What moved LABT stock

Lakewood-Amedex is a clinical-stage biotech working on Nu-3, an antimicrobial candidate for infected diabetic foot ulcers. Before the bell it put out resistance data framed around the government's PACCARB antibiotic-resistance council: Nu-3 didn't induce resistance in a serial passage experiment and showed broad in-vitro activity. Real science, genuinely interesting to microbiologists. It is also in-vitro data on a Phase-2-ready asset, which is several years and a lot of money away from meaning anything financially.

The mechanics

The float is 283,000 shares. Nearly 80 million shares changed hands — over 300 times the stock's 30-day average volume, and roughly 280 times the entire float. A headline of any kind, landing on a share count that small at 8am when the book is thin, produces this. The stock went from $1.86 to $7.72 in under half an hour without needing a single institution to be involved.

The alert window

The alert fired at 8:06 AM at $4.78, roughly six minutes into the launch. The high of $7.72 came at 8:27 — 21 minutes later, +62%, with real premarket volume behind it (1.3 million shares in the peak minute alone). Twenty-one minutes is not a lot of time, but the price stayed above $6 for most of the following hour, so this wasn't a one-print top. The regular session then opened at $6.49 and never traded higher.

How LABT's move ended

Down all day from the open. It broke $4 by 10:00, touched $3.00 in the early afternoon, and closed at $3.41 — 29% below the alert, though still up 83% from the prior close. Which is the whole story: everybody who transacted after 9:30 lost money on a stock that nearly quadrupled. There's no revenue here, a $6 million market cap, a share count that's already been consolidated once this year, and the funding for a Phase 2 trial is not in hand.

The tell: when the catalyst prints premarket on a sub-500K float, the open is the distribution, not the entry.
